The Hanover AARP Chapter will be holding a special Celebrating Black History month Feb. 7 in the Hanover Arts & Activities Center located at 500 S. Center St. in Ashland. Our meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

Quest speakers will be Dr. Jamelle Wilson, superintendent of Hanover Public Schools and Mrs. Margaret Cousin. Dr. Wilson will be informing us as to the current status of our schools as well as how our citizens can become involved in the many volunteer programs offered in our schools.

Mrs. Cousin will be giving us an informative talk about the Black Buffalo Soldiers. The Buffalo Soldiers were organized during the 1800′s to conquer the western land of the United States as well as participate in the many conflicts the United States became involved with which included World War II. There will be many displays portraying the actions by these very famous fighters. Come and join us.
