Randolph-Macon women top Hood 17-6 at home

Randolph-Macon Women’s Lacrosse (4-0 / 1-0 ODAC) held Hood College (2-2) to just 10 shots on the way to a 17-6 win Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets look to remain undefeated when they travel to Marymount Thursday, March 14 for a 4 p.m. game.
R-MC opened the game on a 14-1 run that extended into the 27:17 mark of the second half. Shannon Jamieson sparked the rally with an unassisted goal 1:44 into the contest. Betsy Herbert notched another goal less than 90 seconds later before another goal from Jamieson pushed the advantage to 3-0.
Kim Wright netted a score on a pass from Jamieson before Emily Lynch and Margaret Lyons continued the offensive output with a goal each.
Hood rallied for three goals in the early going of the second half to cut the Randolph-Macon advantage to 14-4 but scores from Jenelle Whitman, Hebert and Lynch secured the 17-6 victory.
Lynch led the way with four goals, an assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Hebert added two goals and two assists while Rachel Johnsen had two goals and four draw control wins. Jamieson chipped in with two scores and an assist.
Nicole Woodworth picked up the win in goal after making two saves on just two shots. Morgan Tignor played the final 30 minutes and also made two saves.
Caitlin Lawrence led the Blazers’ offense with three goals and an assist. Keeper Lauren Couch made nine saves.
The Yellow Jackets had just nine turnovers while the Blazers gave up the ball 22 times, 13 of them caused by R-MC.
