Former Ashland Little League president faces embezzlement, forgery charges

Charges have been filed against the former president of the Ashland Little League.

According to court records, Lynn Newell was charged April 10 with one felony count of embezzlement of an amount greater than or equal to $200, and two felony counts of forgery.

Court records show the embezzlement charge in question dates back to December 2010. The forgery offenses allegedly occurred this past January.

Newell is still listed on the Ashland Little League’s web site as the group’s president under the board of directors’ list for 2011/2012. However, she reportedly resigned amid the allegations against her.

Newell was released on her own recognizance and will appear in Hanover’s General District Court April 19 for arraignment.
