Jean F. Gallahan, of Montpelier, born Dec. 27, 1949 proceeded by Eleanor and Rufus E. Flynn and late brother John Robert Flynn was called home by our Lord and Savior April 15, 2013. She is survived by her son John Raymond Leach and her sister Carolyn F. Hall (Malcolm) loved by two nephews Malcolm Hall Jr. and Steven L. Hall and two loving nieces Victoria H. Newton and Stephanie H. Slayton. Also, a long time devoted friend Angie Fillingame. She loved life to it’s fullest and everyone that she touched. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the West Hanover Fire and Rescue. A Memorial service is scheduled for May 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Beaverdam United Methodist Church on Beaver Dam Road, in the town of Beaverdam.
Kathryn Myers Miller, 96, of Ashland, died April 24, 2013, after suffering a fall April 15. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, L. Paul Miller, a long time professor at Randolph-Macon College. She is survived by her brother James W. Myers of McGaheysville, Va.; her children Sandra Jo Miller of Lynchburg, Va.; Patricia A. Langner of West Bloomfield, Mich.; Sue M. Patterson of Haymarket, VA, and James C. Miller of Takoma Park, Md.; granddaughters Carrie E. Langner of San Luis Obispo, Ca.; Karen L. Mitchell of White Lake, Mich.; Rebekka Hudson of Aldie, Va.; and five great-grandchildren. She was born May 31, 1916 in Broadway, Va., to Walter A. Myers and Mollie E. (Zigler) Myers. She was a teacher at Henrico High School, and a librarian at Montpelier and Beaverdam schools and at Ashland Public Library until her retirement in 1986. For many years she was a member of the Ashland Women’s Club. Gifts in her memory may be given to the charity of your choice. Memorial services were held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland, VA 23005.
Phillip Marion Webb, 72, of Bumpass, passed away April 29, 2013. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Moody; brother, Nelson Webb; and parents, Louise Mills Lowe and William Wiley Webb. He is survived by his wife, Anne Rannow Webb; children, Ed Webb (Katie), and their son, Patrick Marion Webb; Rebekah Webb and Rusty Webb; and brother, W. Grady Webb of Burlington, N.C. He retired from MCV and was a volunteer coach with the Lakeside Little League, Brooklyn Redskins and Patrick Henry High School. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at Bliley’s – Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Frances C. West, 88, of Glen Allen, joined her Heavenly Father Monday, April 22, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Warren Mann West Sr.; son, Julian Joseph West; and daughter, Teresa West Visintainer of Tampa, Fla. Cherishing her loving memory will be her daughters, Gwynne West Shrader (Steve) of Ellicott City, Md., Fran West Faber (George) of Mechanicsville, Juanita Crouch of Mechanicsville, who she loved as a daughter; a son, Warren “Bubba” Mann West Jr. of Glen Allen; son-in-law, Dennis Visintainer of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Missy Shrader, Mandy Faber, Travis Shrader, Alicia Faber, Nicole Visintainer; Charlsie Lee Joyner, whom she thought of as a sister; and many friends. Frances set the standard for what it means to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend to all. She was a member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church for 55 years. She will be deeply missed, a void never to be filled. The family received friends Sunday, April 28, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where services were held Monday, April 29, 2013. Entombment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
