The marriage of Miss Kathryn Zoe Merrell, daughter of Mrs. Charles Wellington King and Dr. Gary Lewis Merrell both of Birmingham, Al. to Mr. Benjamin Patrick Keane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Alfred Keane, Sr. of Bon Air, Va. Took place Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Al. The Rev. Lucy E. Turner officiated.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Martha Zoe Archer and Floyd Eugene Hensley, formerly of Oklahoma City, Ok, and the late Anita Louise Merrell Sonnenfeld and Clarence Lewis Merrell formerly of Bartlesville, Ok.
The groom is the grandson of Mr. Harold Eugene Starke of Ashland and the late Aurelia Houchins Starke, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter John Keane, formerly of Bon Air, Va.
Margaret Goff Bolin of Birmingham, Al. was matron of honor. Stefani Leigh Johnson of New York City, N.Y. was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kimberly Kilpatrick Anderson and Megan Christine Faulkner of Atlanta, Ga.; and Ann Taylor Churchill Butler of Nashville, Tenn.; Emily Page Steele of Beatrice, Al. and Karen Lindsey Ford, Emily Annette Helveston and Haley Carole Helveston, all of Birmingham, Al.
Mr. Andrew Munro Jones of Manhattan Beach, Ca. and Dr. Sunit Nitin Shah of Charlottesville, Va. were best men. Mr. Andrew Lewis Merrell of Birmingham, Al. and Mr. Douglas Richard Merrell of Atlanta, Ga. (brothers of the bride); Mr. James Dominic De Pasquale of Washington D.C., and Mr. Timothy Anthony Ragones of Chicago, Ill. were groomsmen. Ushers were Mr. Christian Foy Del’Aune of Durham, N.C.; Dr. Trevor Anthony Rose of Tampa, Fla. And Mr. Jason Walker Fenchuck of Richmond.
Dr. Reid Austin Maclellan of Lookout Mountain, Tenn. and Mr. David Farley Reid of Atlanta, Ga. were readers.
Miss Kiren Elaine Devereaux of New York City, N.Y. and Miss Lauren Elizabeth Hensley of Myrtle Beach, S.C. were program attendants.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at The Club, Birmingham, which was hosted by the bride’s parents.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents was held on the eve of the wedding at The Summit Club in Birmingham, Al.
The bride graduated from Vestavia Hills H.S. in Birmingham, Al. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Mississippi, and her Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama. She is an attorney for Alston and Bird in Atlanta, Ga.
The groom is a high school graduate of The Governor’s School in Richmond; received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his Juris Doctor from The University of Virginia. He is an attorney for McKenna, Long and Aldridge , LLP in Atlanta, Ga.
Ben and Katie honeymooned in The Cook Islands and New Zealand and now reside in Atlanta, Ga.
