While Hanover baseball reached the pinnacle of team success with their Group AAA state championship Sunday, many individual honors have been bestowed upon county student-athletes in all spring sports.
Four Hawks baseball players earned first-team All-Central Region: Trevor Denton (third base), Keith Searles (catcher), Andrew Knizner (shortstop) and Derek Casey (pitcher). They are joined on the first team by two Atlee Raiders, Kenner Berry (outfield) and Luke Bolka (designated hitter). Receiving Honorable Mention All-Region honors are Atlee’s Evan Swecker (first base and pitcher), Hanover’s Josh Shepherd (second base), and Patrick Henry’s Kyle Palmer (pitcher).
A successful season across the county in softball yielded a treasure trove of individual honors. Receiving first-team All-Central Region status were pitchers Jessica Holte of Atlee and Candace Whittemore of Patrick Henry, plus Patrick Henry’s Paige Mitchell (shortstop), Lee-Davis’ Kinsee Stonebreaker (second base) and Hanover’s Kiandra Mitchum (outfield). Earning second-team honors were Lee-Davis pitcher Lauren McIntyre, Hanover’s Shannon Albright (infield), and outfielders Ellen Davidson of Patrick Henry and Shelby Hill of Atlee. Honorable Mention honorees were Atlee’s Cameron Hall (catcher) and Lee-Davis’ Becca Fields (outfield).
Holte shared Central Region Pitcher of the Year honors with Chelsea Whitcomb of Cosby.
In boys soccer, Conner Hulser of Atlee and Garrett Braun of Patrick Henry were named to first team All-Central Region, while Scott Lohmann of Lee-Davis, Chandler Crescentini of Atlee and Isaac Waggoner of Patrick Henry received second team All-Region honors.
In girls soccer, Atlee teammates Lindsay Wilkins and Alexis Pringle were named first team All-Central Region, while Raiders Molly Shields and Abby O’Toole were named to the second team.
