Local libraries hold Genealogy workshops

All branches of the Pamunkey Regional Library will be closed Saturday Aug. 31.

Families are invited to take part in the 2013 Summer Reading Program at all branches now through Aug. 17. Children can join “Dig into Reading!” while our teen program is “Beneath the Surface.” Adults may join “@ the Library.” Weekly drawings for paperbacks will be held. Many exciting, free programs for families will be taking place at the library. Ashland Branch Library

Ice Cream Social and Summer Concert Friday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. Hear groovy beats by Diggin’ up Bones and enjoy yummy ice cream treats provided by the Friends of the Ashland Library.

Atlee Branch Library

LEGO Racers Friday, Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. Ages 11-18. Build and race your own brick designs and mods. Snacks provided by the Friends of the Atlee Library.

Crazy about Cupcakes Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. Ages 11-18 with friend or parent. Find out the latest tips and tricks about decorating cupcakes and create your own tasty treat. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Atlee Library.

Hanover Branch Library

Genealogy Workshop Thursday, Aug. 15 at 2:30 p.m. Find out how to start researching your family tree using our genealogy databases, Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest. You must call (804) 365-6210 to sign up for this class.

Hanover Branch Book Club – The Hanover Branch Library will be starting a new Book Club this fall. If you have an interest in joining us, get in on the planning stage and give our branch a call. Storytime Resumes! Sept. 13 -  10:45-11:30 a.m. Join us each Friday for our family storytime, ages infants and up. Each week we will sing songs, make fun crafts, and of course, share some terrific books. We look forward to having you join us!

Back to School Bingo Sept. 14 – 10:30 a.m. to noon – Join us as we begin a new school year for some Bingo fun!  There will be prizes and refreshments provided by the Hanover Branch Library Friends.

College Financial Aid Seminar Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. Amy Jasper from My College Fit will show you how to navigate the college financial aid application process. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Mechanicsville Library.
