Hanover Master Gardeners have announced dates and topics for their Fall Home Gardening Series. Classes will be held in the Department of Social Services meeting room, 12304 Washington Highway in Ashland, from 9-11 a.m. each day.
The series features topics of interest and concern to citizens and will include the following classes:
Aug. 24 – Turf: All You Need to Know – soil preparation and amendments, turf selection, fertilization schedule, cultural practices, pest management strategies
Sept. 14 – Fall: A Time for Gardening Opportunities – cooler temperatures and shorter days do not mean an end to garden bounty. Learn about planting for winter crops and tips you can use to make the next spring garden the best ever. Topics include soil testing, your Fall compost pile, cover crops and season extension.
Sept. 28 – Planting and Transplanting – Fall provides moderate weather favorable to rethink, redo and relocate shrubs and herbaceous perennials in the home landscape.
