Guns keep us safe

Ann Marie Martin wrote in your Aug. 13 edition that she did not understand why a man would carry a gun along when with his children.

I cannot imagine she really does not know that our children need protection from all of the perverts and miscreants that liberals like her have created. A day never passes that a lot of people who do not have a gun with them, wish they did. I carry a gun everywhere and have for over 30 years. During that time I have stopped two armed robberies.

If all of the law-abiding citizens were armed, and liberals like Martin would quit protecting them, we would soon be rid of the scum among us and children could once again play outside; like they did when everyone had a gun.

McAuliffe follows Bloomberg agenda

You can tell a lot about a person by their friends and the company they keep.  You know this is true of our kids as well as adults.  As we learned more about President Obama and his friends and company he keeps, it explained a lot about his interests and direction for the country.

I learned through a story Sept. 3 in Politico that apparently Terry McAuliffe has met with New York Mayor Bloomberg to ask for either an endorsement or campaign funding. You may be familiar with Bloomberg as the mayor who famously banned smoking, large soft drinks, and most guns in New York City. It’s true that this could just have been two rich New Yorkers hobnobbing, but it seems more likely that they met because they have some shared values and goals. Friend and company, remember?

You don’t have to be some kind of extremist to see that when politicians take away our gun rights, control how we behave, and what we eat or drink, we become less free. I take this meeting as a sign that McAuliffe supports Bloomberg’s agenda of curtailing freedom. There is no way I can support a politician who advocates this.

In contrast, Ken Cuccinelli has been clear that he thinks what we need is more liberty, not less. Cuccinelli, you have my vote now.

Radler’s education stance gets my vote

Toni Radler is the one we should elect as our Delegate to the Virginia Legislature from the 55th District of Virginia.  There are many reasons to elect Toni, but the one that most persuades me is her strong stand for education.

Toni’s number one priority is to assure that public schools in Virginia are fully funded.  She is opposed to using the Commonwealth’s General Fund for corporate tax breaks for tuition vouchers because that takes money away from public schools.  We need her strong voice in the Virginia legislature.
