On behalf of the Ashland Firehouse Theater’s Executive Board, I would like to publicly thank Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker for deeding the Ashland Theater to the Town of Ashland. This very generous donation will be the crowning jewel of an exciting facelift to downtown Ashland.
We are thrilled to see this dream of many Ashlanders, including our founding leader, Ragan Philips, come to fruition. Our fans and patrons have shown us there is a need for a place that shows movies and live theater, and hosts charities and other community events. We look forward to what this effort will bring to the town and all of us stand ready to help. We hope that all Ashlanders will join us in a long line wrapping around the block on opening night of the Ashland Theater. We can’t wait to purchase our tickets.
The Firehouse Theater has enjoyed the chance to bring great cinema and live theater to Ashland. With this exciting news, we are weighing our options for this upcoming 2013-14 season. We are delighted that Louise Keeton’s Whistlestop Theater will be putting on the Whistlestop Spooktacular in October. Join us Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. or Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 or 4 p.m., for a delightfully good show. Our theater will be participating in Train Day with great train-related films. The season will officially begin Saturday, Nov. 9 with a great movie – “Stand by Me.” We think this movie is a great start to the season and fitting in our role for Ashland. We promise to do our best to give you movies that you would like to see. This means we would love to hear from you and invite the entire community to give us your input. You can join in the conversation on our facebook page –Ashland Firehouse Theater or email us directly at email@example.com.
Once again, we would like to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker for their very generous donation to the town of Ashland. We can’t wait to see the marquee light up and hear Ashlanders say, “Let’s go to the movies!”
Firehouse Theater Executive Director
Nov. 5, voters living in the 55th district will choose their delegate for the Virginia House of Representatives. The best candidate for this office is Toni Radler. Toni will work hard to make sure that our voices as citizens are heard.
Many of us feel that government officials do not listen to us, especially when it comes to influencing important decisions affecting our everyday quality of life. Toni will listen to us because she sees us as partners. She will be accessible and she will help create transparency in our state’s legislative process. We need less secrecy, less backroom deals and more sunshine in the General Assembly. Toni is open, honest, and direct when communicating her positions. I am voting for Toni Radler on Nov. 5 because she will be a welcomed breath of fresh air for citizens of the 55th district. I hope you will vote for Toni as well.
