Last Thursday, we had the honor of co-sponsoring a candidates forum at Patrick Henry High School with Friends of Hanover Schools.
Each of the three candidates vying to be the 55th District’s next representative in the House of Delegates did a great job during the 90-minute Q&A session. The event’s moderator, Heather Sullivan of NBC 12, helped keep everything running smoothly.
Altogether, it was a great, informative event, and we look forward to future collaborations to help inform local voters.
Coverage of the forum appears in this week’s H-P and multimedia will be live online by the time this edition hits newsstands.
Making sure voters are informed is a basic function of newspapers, if not its most important role. This week happens to be the 73rd observance of “National Newspaper Week,” which celebrates the impact that papers of all sizes have in their communities.
Though in a time of change, local newspapers everywhere are still in tune with their communities. We are, more than often, the first news source when news happens and the last to see a story through after the news channels and national news outlets have left for the next big story.
After 132 years of service to the community, we hope that we are continuing to make a positive contribution in Hanover and Ashland.
