The Hanover Concert Band will present two concerts of Christmas music in December to close out their 24th year as “Music Ambassadors for Hanover County.”
The first performance will take place Dec. 7 at noon at Virginia Center Commons food court, 10101 Brook Road, Glen Allen. In addition to the program of Christmas favorites old and new, we will present a special musical tribute to the men and women who were at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on that “Day of Infamy” in 1941. If you can, please bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Central Virginia Food Bank.
The second performance takes place Dec. 17, 7 p.m. at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center, 500 South Railroad Avenue, Ashland. We will complete our 24th year with this Boston Pops style concert of Christmas Music. There will be table seating available with beverage and food treats to enjoy throughout the concert. If you can, please bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Central Virginia Food Bank.
The upcoming year will mark our 25th anniversary concert series. There are plans to feature local musicians in the concerts and present special concert music written by VCU Jazz Studies head, Antonio Garcia that has been commissioned for the 25th year. It will debut at the 2014 end of the year Christmas Concert at the Arts and Activities Center in Ashland where we rehearse every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
