Jan. 2 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Hanover deputies attempted to serve a felony warrant at a residence in the 10300 block of Cedar Lane, according to Capt. Michael Trice. The subject, Patrick Joseph Hooker, was wanted for threatening to burn a house.

When deputies approached the residence, Hooker fled the home on foot. Deputies pursued Hooker until he jumped into the Chickahominy River. Hooker swam across the waterway and exited on the Henrico side.

The Sheriff’s Office then contacted Henrico Police and began coordinating its efforts to locate Hooker. Henrico Police, utilizing the SWAT team, located Hooker in a structure behind a residence in the 10800 block of Winfrey Road. Following his capture, Hooker was transported to a local hospital for treatment related to exposure to the elements.

Hooker is currently incarcerated with no bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail. In addition to the initial charge, Hooker was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice related to his pursuit into Henrico, according to Trice.
