Arrests made in Battlefield Green vandalism
Local authorities recently solved a post-Christmas vandalism spree in a Mechanicsville neighborhood.
According to a statement released this afternoon by Lt. Chris Whitley, the Sheriff’s Office has arrested two male juveniles in connection to a series of vandalisms that occurred in the Battlefield Green subdivision in late December 2013. Both juveniles remain in their parents’ custody pending a hearing in Hanover Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court at a later date.
Vandals slashed tires at multiple homes in Battlefield Green during the Dec. 28 incident.
As a result of these arrests, over 50 vandalisms have been solved. The vandalisms occurred in late December when suspects destroyed Christmas decorations in homeowners’ yards and slashed the tires on multiple victims’ vehicles.
Deputies and investigators were also able to obtain additional information in connection to other recent crimes affecting this neighborhood, which has been shared with the appropriate agency for further investigation.
“Our personnel maintain exceptional focus on every case to which they are assigned. This case underscores how valuable the relationships with our community partners are in helping to solve and prevent crime,” said Col. David R. Hines, sheriff. “I’m pleased that we are now able to give reassurance to the victims and residents who have been impacted by this.”
