The Friends of the Ashland Library will host its Spring Book Sale Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be held at the Richard S. Gillis, Jr., Ashland Branch Library, 201 S. Railroad Avenue in Ashland.
More than 1,000 donated books will be available for purchase. Hardbacks sell for $1 and paperbacks for 50 cents. Children’s books are 25 cents each or five for $1.
Because the sale coincides with two other popular events in town, the Ashland Railroad Run and Garden Tour of Homes, the Friends organization expects a good turnout for the sale, said Judy Johnson, a volunteer with the Friends organization.
Students from Randolph-Macon College will be on hand to help with the set-up and the sale. It is Macon a Difference Day and their time for community service.
Proceeds benefit programs of the Friends of the Library, including adult and children’s programs, refreshments, equipment and other assistance to the Library not covered in the regular budget.
