Shiloh Baptist Church
Are you concerned about the rise in homelessness in the Greater Richmond Area? Do you want to know what’s being done to address this problem? Do you want to know what you can do to help? Join us at Shiloh Baptist Church in Ashland, for “Keeping the Hope Alive” Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. William H. Poarch, executive director of the Area Congregations Together in Service (ACTS), will share his organization’s work to close the door on homelessness through a “proactive and compassionate stance.” Please join us to learn what we can do to partner with ACTS and others to end homelessness in our community. Breakfast will be served, so please call (804) 798-6384 to RSVP so that we can make sure to prepare enough food. An offering will be collected. We look forward to seeing you and your friends and family Feb. 9.
Valentine Day’s Dance Saturday, Feb. 9 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. The cost is a free will donation to benefit Stop Hunger Now. Walnut Grove Baptist Church will host weekly support group meetings for parents of addicted children. “Connecting With Your Addicted Child” is designed to provide a compassionate, yet no-holds-barred forum to educate parents who have teenagers or adult children with addictions to illegal, prescription, and/or over-the-counter drugs. Learn about the moral vs. the medical model of addiction and the power of love. Discover strategies to stay connected with your child, despite their addiction. Learn to breathe again, to laugh again.
