Cole Sydnor, a student at Atlee High School, recently shared his life-changing experience with area students and community members at Hanover High School.

He described the events of an August 2011 diving adventure that resulted in a fractured spine. As his head struck a submerged rock in the James River, he encountered an injury that has left him paralyzed from the chest down.

His first step toward recovery involved being airlifted to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. for 122 days of rehabilitation.

As he shared his personal experiences with the audience, his inspirational message also included injury prevention tips and advice for those that might consider diving into familiar bodies of water.

More information and YouTube videos are available on his official website www.rollwithcole.org.
