Christopher Michael (Critter) Beazley, Beaverdam, passed away suddenly March 2, 2013. He is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Kim Beazley, his brothers, Joshua and Steven Beazley; his nephew Aedan; his grandparents Audrey Beazley of Ashland, Jerry and Brenda Swartz of Richmond and Don and June Beazley of Montpelier; his aunts and uncles, his very special cousins and his good ole dog, Roy. Chris graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, and attended Patrick Henry Community college in Martinsville, Va. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved baseball and was a member of the 2010 ASA National Softball Championship team, the Young Guns. Christopher loved life, his family and his many friends. He always had a big smile on his face. The family received friends Tuesday, March 5 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 6 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 15583 Coatesville Road, Beaverdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Chris’ memory to Wheelin’ Sportsman of Virginia, 17 Lake Haven Lane, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
Catherine K. Robertson, 68, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord Feb. 28, 2013. Left to cherish her memory, are her loving husband, Lemuel C. “Robbie” Robertson Jr.; children, Robin Brooks (Todd), Lemuel C. “Buddy” Robertson III and Stephanie Walker (David); three grandchildren, Rebecca, Caroline and Logan; brother, Samuel Kouri (Margaret); sister, Betty K. Hicks; and a host of family and friends. The family received friends Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home. Services were held Monday, March 4, at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, 8016 Atlee Road. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
Shirley Kay Thomas, 78, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Thomas. She is survived by her children, Julie Weeks (Eddie), Marcus Thomas, William Thomas (Kathy) and Janice Thomas Wainwright; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Melanie, Mary Elaine, Bridgette, Sarah, James, Chris, Jessica and Tommy; six great-grandchildren, Madison, Caitlin, Bailey, Joe, Julia and Olivia. Shirley was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved to help others by volunteering her time and talents to the church and community, and she was an avid bridge player. The family received friends Sunday, March 3, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mechanicsville. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth Marshall Utley, 91, of Mechanicsville, departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Wesley Utley Sr. of Richmond. She is survived by three children, Keith Wesley Utley Jr. (Rita), Mary Lou Harrison, widow of the late James “Butch” Harrison, and William “Bill” Utley (Ann); six grandsons, Utley, Kevin, and Brandon Harrison, and Keith III, Michael and Chris Utley; five great-grandchildren, Kalli, Ross, April, Dale, and Taylor; four sisters, Theo Verlander, Gladys Brown, Ellen Sauvager, Frances Lowery, and many nieces and nephews. The family received friends Friday, March 1 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where services were held Saturday, March 2. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
