Axselle

Mildred C. Axselle, 89, of Montpelier, widow of John F. Axselle, Jr., went to be with her Lord Monday, March 4, 2013. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Axselle Worley, John F. Axselle III and Betty Johanna Axselle; grandchildren, Kristen Gilkey, Jennifer Webb, Lauren Axselle, John F. Axselle IV, Josiah Worley; great-grandchildren, Will and Joseph Webb. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Ashland and a member of the Friendship Class and taught Sunday school. The family received friends Thursday, March 7, at First Baptist Church, and where a celebration of her life was held Friday, March 8. Interment Riverview Cemetery. Beck

John Christian Beck, 52, of Mechanicsville, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013. He is survived by his parents, William and Constance Beck; two children, Alexandra and Grant Beck; and a sister, Deborah Joyce (Anthony). John was a graduate of George Mason University, a very talented artist and gifted poet, who enjoyed martial arts and also was an avid fisherman. The family received friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, Friday, March 8, 2013 with a Christian Wake Service. Interment private.

Ciarlo

Betty L. “nee Gifford” Ciarlo, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was preceded in death by her son, Leroy Gifford; grandson, Ronny Ciarlo; and sisters, Marie Baughman, and Barbara Myers. She is survived by her daughters, Betty M. Ciarlo-Holleman and Velda Ciarlo both of Glen Allen; sons, Nelson Ciarlo Jr., and Raymond Dix III both of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Norma Lee Bolyard of Okeechobee, Fla.; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family received friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, Thursday, March 7, 2013. Interment private.

Eisinger

Frank P. Eisinger, (85) of Glen Allen, died Feb. 28 in Henrico Doctor’s hospital in the arms of his family. Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Susan, daughter Anne Broadhead, son John Eisinger, and grandchildren Allison, Jamie, and Kevin. Frank Lived in Hastings on Hudson, NY until he married in 1961, when he and Susan moved to Bedford, NY. He was a 1949 graduate of Lehigh University and member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was a Sergeant in the U S Army in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. Frank was a longtime Captain of the Riverview Manor Hose Co. in Hastings and a Manager in information technology at GECC (later GE Capital) for 34 years. Frank and Susan moved to Richmond in 2000 where he delivered Meals on Wheels and drove Red Cross clients to medical appointments. He was on the Board of Friends of the Rockville Library and a Member of the Rockville Ruritan Club. Memorial services were held Saturday, March 9 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, or Disabled American Veterans.

Farmer

Edith G. “Grannie” Farmer, 82, of Mechanicsville, passed away at home Tuesday, March 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Garland Farmer; and is survived by two daughters, Juanita F. Penny and Dinah F. Wilson and husband, Gene Lane; three grandchildren, Heather Carder and husband, John, Travis Penny and wife, Sarah, and Mark Penny and wife, Mindy; six great-grandchildren, Paityn, Brianna, Laney, Taylor, Cayden and Garrett; four sisters, Marie Helton, Lois Vencill, Betty Mallory and Linda Sprinkle; one brother, Lonnie Cox; as well as several nieces and nephews. Grannie enjoyed crocheting, gardening and loved her great-grandchildren, “her babies.” The family received friends Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home. Interment private.

Fleming

Nancy S. Fleming, 86, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord March 8, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; and brother, Edward Sprankle. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Conley; son, Paul Fleming; four grandchildren, Matthew, Christine, Stephanie Nicole, Cory; six great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all. The family received friends Monday, March 11 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where services were held Tuesday, March 12. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.

Jones

Everett Waverly Jones, 52, of Mechanicsville, left this life March 5, 2013. A lifelong resident of Hanover County, a graduate of Lee-Davis High School and a master plumber by trade, he is survived by his daughter,, Jessica M. Jones of Mechanicsville; his parents, Waverly and Katherine Jones of Heathsville; his sister, Bonnie Revere and her family (Bill and Mallory) of Heathsville; his brother, Glenn Jones and his family (Carrie, Brian and Emily) of Elizabeth City, NC. Setheline L. Jones, of Sandston, widow of Paul D. Jones, went to be with her Lord and Savior March 6, 2013. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Jones Hudson. She is survived by her grandchildren, Steven Hudson and Julie Wilhelm; great-grandchildren, Trey, Joel and Eliana; niece, Dawn Powers; two sisters, Jackie DeRosier and Jerry Wright. The family received friends Friday March 8, at the Mechanicsville Chapel Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Saturday at Washington Memorial Park.

Linkenhoker

Jack C. Linkenhoker, 75, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was preceded in death by a son, Earl Franklin Davis; and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judith McAbee Linkenhoker; three children, Catherine Reynolds (Jeff), Jacqueline Yeast and David Davis (Karen); five grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Linkenhoker (Cora Lee), and James Linkenhoker (Adele); as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members. Jack was a graduate of George Mason High School and went on to attend the University of Virginia. A self- made man, Jack owned two grocery stores, as well as two brokerage firms, Alliance Brokerage and Cardinal Brokerage. The family received friends Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, where funeral services were held. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the SPCA.

Paxson

Gregory Scott Paxson, age 52, of Mechanicsville, born Sept. 15, 1960, went to be with Jesus Saturday, March 9, 2013. He is survived by a son, Gregory Scott Paxson Jr.; parents, Isaac and Loretta Paxson; two sisters, Kim Lawhorn and Donna Coker; three nephews and three nieces. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, March 14, at Mechanicsville Christian Center, Mechanicsville. Visitation at Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, Wednesday, March 13. Interment at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackridge, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted on behalf of Scott’s son, Gregory. Powell

Shirley Mallory Powell, 65, of Mechanicsville, entered into eternal life March 4, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Ray Emanuel and Vivian Bradley Mallory; and was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Powell. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Atkinson and Christopher Atkinson and his wife, Lori; three grandsons, Daniel, Jacob and Nathan Atkinson; and a very special friend, James Hailey. Shirley was a very active caregiver, both to her community and to her immediate family. Over the past 10 years, she visited weekly with the residents at the Stratford Hall Manor Care Facility. Family visitation was held Sunday, March 10, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, with memorial services Monday. Jonathan Wesley Roberts, 30, of Aylett, Va., went to be with the Lord March 10, 2013. He is survived by his loving daughter, Casey Elizabeth Hohman; mother, Barbara Hartle (Rodney); father, Richard Froman (Kathleen); beloved grandmother, Carol Meloy; his grandparents, Marilyn and Samuel Froman; sisters, Crystal Froman and Alicia Cosky; brother, Timothy Froman; aunt and uncle, Joseph and Michelle Clark; nephew and niece, Austin and Leanna; along with many other aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and the love of his life, Jessica Leigh. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Timbrook

Larry John Timbrook, 59, of Aylett, originally of Romney, W.Va., passed away peacefully Friday, March 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Timbrook; and brother, William S. Timbrook; and is survived by his wife of 13 years, Marion Smith Timbrook; four children, Sharece T. Kincer (Troy), Sara J. Hanson, D’Anna T. Carreras (Joseph III) and Tyler Guyton; five grandchildren, Elsie, Addi, Isaac, Dakota and Danni Jane; mother, Juanita M. Timbrook; as well as other beloved extended family and friends. Larry was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a member of the Naval Ceremonial Guard in Washington, D.C., and the Presidential Naval Color Guard from 1971 through 1975. Larry was a member and Past Master of Clinton Lodge #86 AF&AM Romney, W. Va., a deacon of Sharon Baptist Church, past co-owner and auctioneer for Ownby Auction Company and currently was a sales representative for Carter Machinery Company. The family received friends Monday, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Sharon Baptist Church in Aylett. Walker

Hilda Connock Walker, 89, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord March 9, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie L. Walker Jr.; and a daughter Deborah W. McGregor. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Harrison (Bobby) and Beverly Starnes; a son, Vernie Walker III “Tripp” (Diane); grandchildren, Jill Tapp, Michael Prince, Jenny Cox and Jon Walker; great-grandchildren, Kasey, Tayler, Cody, Chase, Alyssa, Hunter and Gabriel. Hilda was a longtime member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. The family received friends Monday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where services were held Tuesday, March 12. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. Walton

William Oscar Walton, Sr., 79, of Mechanicsville, answered the call of his Lord and died peacefully at home, March 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Ruth Walton; and his parents, Oscar and Vernell Walton. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Walton, Robin Rozell (Donald), Bill Walton (Laurie) and Cheryl Walton; grandchildren, Justine and Trey Walton, and Jordan Rozell; sisters, Chris Worthington (Tom), Bessie Bryan (George) and Barbara J. Walton; and brother, Bobby Walton (Jane). Oscar retired from Reynolds Metal, was an avid farmer in partnership with his brother, was a loyal member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, a member of Washington Henry Masonic Lodge #344 and served his community through the Cold Harbor Ruritan Club. Many thanks to his loving neighbors and caregivers. The family received friends Tuesday, March 12 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 13, at Mechanicsvile Baptist Church, where a Masonic memorial service was held. Interment Mattaponi Baptist Church Cemetery, King & Queen County.
