Friday night, this year’s Raiders got their first test against the top-ranked team in the area. Though the final score read Highland Springs 68, Atlee 45, there were plenty of signs to know the Raiders are closing the gap between themselves and the upper echelon of area girls basketball.

    For the third straight season, Randolph-Macon women’s basketball presented itself the challenge of playing a school from the Division II level in Virginia Union. And, in their best performance against the Panthers, the Yellow Jackets had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds.

    The Cabrini Cavaliers are a traditional Division III power. Led by last year’s National Player of The Year, Aaron Walton-Moss, Cabrini arrived at Crenshaw Gymnasium Tuesday showing confidence, if not sporting a chip on their shoulder.
