  • Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale presents spring concerts in May

    The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale is looking forward to two performances of its 2015 spring concert, featuring the Duruflé Requiem, Four Motets on Gregorian themes, and Shenandoah, an American folk song arranged by the late James Erb. Artistic Director David Sinden will conduct the Chorale, and concert organist Daniel Stipe will accompany as well as perform. The Ashland performance will take place Sunday, May 10, at 3 p.m., at Duncan

    First Baptist Church, Ashland, has called Joshua Hayden as its new senior pastor. In addition to being a speaker, professor, and author, Hayden has 10 years’ experience in pastoral work, primarily with youth and young families.

    Naturally, as a reverend Kendra Swager stays fairly busy. But, when she’s not delivering her Sunday sermon, Swager leads various programs at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church aimed at helping the less fortunate in Hanover County.
