    1. Strike it Up! Senior Wii Bowling Tournament (all-day)
      Feb 28

      Ages 50 and up. Join Hanover Parks and Recreation and Covenant Woods for a day of fun while getting some low impact exercise at the inaugural Wii Bowling Tournament. Wii bowling is for everyone, regardless of age, ability and bowling experience! Bowlers may sit or stand while using a wireless remote to mimic a bowling motion-no heavy ball to lift, so there is no time to spare, sign up now. This is a double elimination tournament, each match consists of three 10-frame games. Combined game scores will be calculated for bowler ranking, with the top 3 winning prizes. Bowlers will enjoy refreshments and lunch, along with door prize drawings throughout the day. Entry fee: $15/player, includes lunch.

      The Hanover Democratic Committee will hold its next monthly meeting on March 1 at 10 am. Please note the date of this meeting has been moved to the first Saturday of the month, and not the standard second Saturday. The HDC meeting will be held in the “listening room” at Ashland Coffee and Tea, located at 100 N. Railroad Ave. (The intersection of Railroad tracks and Thompson St). in Ashland. The agenda includes planning for the spring season of events, Womens’ coffees, and the status of the current legislative session will discussed. Hanover County Democrats are invited to attend.

      Join Dogtown Dance Theatre for their annual Mardi Gras celebration and parade! Open to the Richmond community, Dogtown will celebrate Mardi Gras on Saturday, March 1 and Fat Tuesday, March 4. Live performances at Dogtown Dance Theatre will follow the community parade. PARADE: 3PM- Saturday // 5:30PM- Tuesday Parade leaves 15th St. and Bainbridge headed West on 15th St. Turns right on Porter heading North. Turns right on 10th heading East. Turns right on Bainbridge heading South. Then returns to 15th St. SHOW: 4PM- Saturday // 7PM- Tuesday Performance features Host of Sparrows Aerial Arts, Rattlemouth live band, and more!! Tickets: Adults- $10 Children under 12- FREE Admission This event is a benefit for Dogtown Dance Theatre in furthering their mission to enliven the Richmond community by fostering expansive creative expression and education across diverse populations.       Dual Recovery Anonymous meets Thursdays at the Thomas Hale Education Center at Sunrise House.

      Dual Recovery Anonymous is for those seeking relief from an emotional or mental disorder & a co-occurring substance abuse problem.

      The group is peer run, meaning that it is run by people with a mental illness and substance abuse history.

      The Crooning Crabcakes (the boys who were banned from the Wonderettes prom) are rehearsing for the Dream of a Lifetime Talent Search, hosted by Big Whopper Radio. Their dream of making it to the big-time is complicated by romantic entanglements with their coach, Lois, and their 60’s doo-wop songs say it all: “Fools Fall in Love”, “Earth Angel”, “Runaround Sue”, “Unchained Melody”, “The Glory of Love”, and 17 more hits. Winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Best Musical Award. You’ll be humming these tunes all the way home!

    1. Senior Pickleball Tournament
      9:00 am – 4:00 pm

      Ages 50 and up. If you’ve never played pickleball, it’s a variation of table tennis and badminton played on a court about 1/3 the size of a tennis court using a whiffle ball, composite paddles, and a lower net. Divisions: • Mixed Open Doubles • Men’s Open Doubles • Women’s Open Doubles.
