This collaborative exhibition between faculty and students in Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Engineering and School of Arts with the Science Museum of Virginia presents two and three dimensional artistic interpretations that will inspire and encourage guests to make informed lifestyle choices!

Join a team of researchers and dive into the waters surrounding Alaska, Hawaii and Tonga to uncover the secrets of these 50-foot, 48-ton animals. Find out how humans have impacted the lives of humpback whales, watch new discoveries bubble to the surface and discover surprises that will take your breath away.

Lots of music, lots of laughs, and the lots of heart as the audience learns the value of work and compassion. The perfect Springtime treat!

Layers.” This exhibition will feature landscape oil paintings by Carol Anna Meese, mixed media paintings by Patte Ormsby, and mixed media and clay sculptures by David Camden. Visit “Marks. Forms. Layers.” from March 5th to May 2, 2015 to see new work by these Gallery Artists.

      5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      Enjoy an evening of special hands-on environmental science activities – plant cloning, seed bombs, plant dissections and more! Unearth your world in The Dome with an astronomer-led Cosmic Expedition about how we study the earth from space. Stick around after the show for a screening of classic episodes of the Addam’s Family. >From 7 – 9 pm, RideFinders will host a bicycle safety clinic with mechanics onsite to fix minor problems with your bicycle! Stargaze through telescopes provided by the Richmond Astronomical Society, weather permitting. Admission is $5, free for members and students with college ID.

    7. Reynolds Spring Music Program

      Reynolds Community College will host Desiree Roots in a concert entitled: Don’t Ever Stop Dreaming on Friday April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Lipman Auditorium of the Massey Library and Technology Center on the Parham Road Campus, located at 1651 E. Parham Road in Richmond.

       

      This soulful, smooth jazz, R&B and Gospel songstress and actress has charmed audiences across the country as a dynamic singer and entertainer. The event is open to the public with admission being a suggested canned or non-perishable donated item for the Central VA Food Bank.

       

      The program is a community event sponsored by Reynolds’s Multicultural Enrichment Council for the purpose of encouraging cultural diversity throughout the Reynolds campuses and communities. For more information about this event please contact Pat Bozeman at pbozeman@reynolds.edu

      Lots of silliness and a heartwarming story for the whole family: Our hero, Danny Boy, found his Million Dollar Baby (Sweet Adeline), at the Five-and-Ten-Cent Store – you get the picture! Classic barbershop harmonies are sung in a classic barbershop setting as this original musical unfolds on the Mill stage. Written by the Mill’s own Tom Width and Paul Deiss.     1. Pooch Pursuit – K-9 Heroes Day
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Owners ages 12 and up, dogs ages 1yr. & up. Lace up your sneakers and grab your dog’s leash for the Pooch Pursuit! Run the 5K trail with treat stops all along the course. This dog friendly event (although canine participation is optional), will benefit the Friends of Hanover Dog Parks and their efforts to construct a dog park at Pole Green Park. All registered participants will receive an owner and dog friendly treat bag.

      Entry Fee: $20 and $10 Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each age division. Dog tags will be presented to all the K-9′s that complete the run.

      Stay after the event for the K-9 Heroes Day. In honor of K-9 Veteran’s Day, Hanover Parks and Recreation, Hanover Hounds Search and Rescue, The Classy Canine and Friends of Hanover Dog Parks invite you and your special canine to the 3rd Annual Hanover K-9 Heroes Day.

      Register to run the Pooch Pursuit 5K or the 1 mile fun run / walk, visit with canine friendly vendors, watch K-9 demonstrations in the areas of Military/Police/Therapy and Search & Rescue. There will also be fun activities and contests for you and your furry friend, including the following: Dog Gone Spring Egg Hunt Frosty Paws eating contest Fastest Wagging Tail contest Event is open to the public, with all dogs required to remain on a secure leash and have current license and rabies vaccination.

      Refreshments will be available for purchase for people and pets. K-9 Heroes Day in Hanover is a celebration to honor the military and civilian K-9’s and their handlers who have given their unwavering service and sometimes their lives to serve these United States of America during the time of war and to also protect us here in our homeland. Per the House Joint Resolution 522, March 13th is designated as K-9 Veterans Day to honor the thousands of dogs that have served with honor, dignity and valor throughout the nation’s history.
