      Those Harvey Girls

      Our full-length production of this world-premiere musical tells the story of three African-American sisters who began singing together as small children and rose to prominence as one of Virginia’s most well-known Gospel-singing groups, “The Harvey Girls.” Their stories will entertain, amuse and enlighten, and their music will raise the roof. Only two student performances, so reserve your seats early!

      Five stories by the master American Storyteller! It’s the late 1800’s, some local characters have gathered on the front porch of the General Store to see who can tell the tallest tale. “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”, “Science vs. Luck’, ant three other tales are told in “story theatre” style. Great fun for a wide range of students! Feb 9 – March 5, 2015 Grades 3-6 Theatre tickets $8.75 Add $2.00 for lunch (approximately 65 minutes) Call to make reservations: (804)748-5203

      Tickets start at 41.25 for Theatre Only and 59.15 for Buffet and Theatre. Senior, Student, and Military discounts are available. Lunch doors open 12:30PM and Theatre doors open at 2:00PM. Various Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday dates. Show is approximately 2 hours. Various Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sunday. Evening shows are available. The Harvey sisters bring their rare gift to the stage, with sounds that transcend gender, race, and religion. This all-new show highlights three young girls growing up in rural, 1960’s Virginia, sharing their spirit through song. The sisters have a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs that have made them who they are today, and through it all, they have kept their faith and kept on singing. Featuring Gospel Music legend Cora Harvey Armstrong in her third starring role on the Mill stage.

      Opening Reception: Thursday, January 8th 5:30-8 PM

      Join us for an evening of fine art! At the reception you will learn more about the artist during her “Artist Talk” and live demonstration. Christaphora Robeers, a native of the Netherlands, currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. Among her many endeavors, she has taught workshops at Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France, Aux-en-Provence in France where Cezanne had his studio, the fjord region in Norway, the highlands of Scotland, England, and Italy. Christaphora has been an artist in education member for the Virginia Commission for the Arts for twenty years. Locally, Christaphora has taught many studio art programs for students gifted in the visual arts.
