    1. 1st Annual Old Cold Harbor Days Benefit
      10:00 am – 4:00 pm

      For kids of all ages!!  The 1st Annual Old Cold Harbor Days Benefit will be held November 3 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the grounds of Wade’s Produce and Seafood located at 5912 Cold Harbor Road.  All proceeds and donations will be given to the Black Creek Fire/EMT and Hanover County Sheriff’s Department.  There will be music by local artist Randy Cook and the Commonwealth Bluegrass Band, Fencing demonstrations, Cross Concessions Truck, BBQ, Smoked Turkey Legs, and a special feature Tug of War Competition between the Fire/EMT/Sheriff’s Depts with winner taking home the trophy and bragging rights for the year and a plaque displayed inside Wade’s Produce and Seafood showing the winning team!  Other attractions inclcude antique cars, corn hole games, ring toss and pick a duck for kids, yarn spinning and quilting demonstrations, face painting, small pumpkin painting, and hoola hoop games.  Crafts, Artisans and other vendors are welcome host a booth at no charge and need to contact Wade’s Produce and Seafood for vendor application and details.  Make plans to bring your whole family and come out to support this great cause!  See you there!

    2. Peninsula Artillery 11th annual Civil War Reenactment
      10:00 am – 5:00 pm

      Peninsula Artillery and the Locust Grove Farm are having their 11th annual Civil War Reenactment on Nov. 3-4, 2012.  Come out and enjoy the day on the bluffs of the Mattaponi River in Walkerton, VA.  Tickets are $5 for one day and $8 for a two day pass, children 12 and under are free.  We open at 10 AM and close at 5 PM (battles 2PM on Saturday and 1PM on Sunday).  Come and meet General Lee, General Grand and General Longstreet.  Experience what life was like back in 1864.  Locust Grove Farm address is Walkerton, VA 23177 Rt. 30 to Rt. 629.  Enquiries: www.peninsulaartillery.com or call 804-744-6224.

      Dual Recovery Anonymous is for those seeking relief from an emotional or mental disorder & a co-occurring substance abuse problem.

      The group is peer run, meaning that it is run by people with a mental illness and substance abuse history.

      This excellent group supports people with both mental illness and substance abuse history. Please join us for fellowship in the 12-step tradition. There are no fees, registration forms or advanced notice necessary!

    1. HBAR Leadership and Legacy Celebration
      5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR) will celebrate another successful year with its annual Leadership and Legacy dinner event on November 14, 2012 at Hermitage Country Club. Join HBAR for an exciting and fun-filled evening to honor the new home building industry’s leadership and preserve our legacy.

      The event begins at 5:30pm with a cocktail hour followed by dinner at 6:30pm.  The award presentations and inductions begin at 7:30pm.  The event will conclude by 8:30pm.  Tickets cost $50 per person and must be purchased before November 8, 2012.  Tickets can be reserved online at www.hbar.org/events or by contacting Victoria Moody at 804.282.0400, ext. 2 or vmoody@hbar.org.  The awards event will be held at the Hermitage Country Club, located at 1248 Hermitage Road, Manakin-Sabot, VA 23103.

    1. Hanover High’s 10th Anniversary Celebration: Shaun Canon’s Live for Music Concert

      In celebration of Hanover High School’s 10th Anniversary, the Hanover High Music Department is hosting Shaun Canon’s Live for Music Tour. Shaun Canon, a former season 7 American Idol alum, will be performing his concert with the talented music students of Hanover High School on Tuesday, November 20th at the Hanover High School Auditorium at 7pm; doors open at 6:30pm.
