    2. Annual show features work of artists with disabilities
      5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The work of artists and craftsman with disabilities from across Virginia will be showcased at the ninth annual Arts & Crafts Show and Sale, to be held March 16-17 by Resources for Independent Living (RIL). Works on display will include paintings, jewelry, pottery, weavings, drawings, woodcarvings, candles and more.

“Every year, our show is a celebration of the independent lives people with disabilities have forged for themselves,” said Gerald O’Neill, RIL’s executive director. “Each artist is a living example of how, with proper resources and community support, people with disabilities can not only survive, but thrive, independently.”

The show opens Friday evening, March 16, from 5-9 p.m., kicking off with a gala reception, and continues Saturday, March 17, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. It takes place at RIL’s headquarters at 4009 Fitzhugh Avenue (just south of Broad and Malvern), and admission is free.

Resources for Independent Living, formed in 1983, is part of a nationwide nonprofit network of CILs (Centers for Independent Living) that provide support and learning opportunities to people with disabilities, their families and the community. The organization serves people in the cities of Richmond, Hopewell, Petersburg and Colonial Heights and the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan and Prince George.
