    1. 17th Annual Komen Central Virginia Race for the Cure®
      7:00 am – 11:00 am

      This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Komen Central Virginia Race for the Cure®! The Race will be held on Brown’s Island on Saturday, May 10. The Race for the Cure features 4 different participation types. The first is the 5K Competitive which includes a timing chip, and the second is the 5K Recreational which does not include a timing chip. The 5K Race starts at 9 a.m. The Kids for the Cure® 1K Run is a fun run for children ages 6-12. The Kids Run starts at 8:30 a.m. Sleep In for the Cure® offers a way to demonstrate support for those unable to be there on Race day. Registration fees range from $20 to $35.     1. Historical Tour of Richmond
      9:00 am – 5:00 pm

      Join the Hanover Seniors as they head to the Capitol City – Historic Richmond. Take a leisurely boat trip down the canal while taking in the historic sites. As you travel along the canal, the narrator will fill you with interesting stories and facts about the canal and all the restorations taken place downtown. Next, enjoy a plated lunch at The Tobacco Company. Choose from entrees such as grilled chicken and spinach salad, Virginia crab sandwich, soup & sandwich, southern barbecue pork sandwich including a beverage and dessert. After lunch it off to a guided riding tour of historic Richmond. See some of the restored neighborhoods including Shockoe Slip, Church Hill, and Monument Avenue. Weather permitting, we’ll take a brief walk into the Confederate section of Hollywood Cemetery. The tour also includes the newly renovated State Capitol. Cost of trip is $99 which includes the following: Round trip Motorcoach Transportation, Canal Boat Ride & Guided Tour of Richmond, Lunch at The Tobacco Company, Tax and Gratuity for Lunch, Driver and Guide Gratuities.     2. Antiques Appraisal Fair
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      Meet Ken Farmer and Matt Quinn from the PBS television show, Antiques Roadshow! Tickets are limited and offered on a first come first serve basis. $25.00 per person Your ticket price includes an appraisal by the experts from Antiques Roadshow and an interactive tour of Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown after 3:00 pm. (If you are unable to take a tour of Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown on March 17th, you may bring your ticket back at any other time we are open to redeem your tour) Each registrant is asked to bring ONE object to be appraised by the Antiques Road Show experts. We ask that a high quality digital photograph of your item be uploaded via this site two weeks prior to the show. Selected Items will be chosen beforehand to be featured and appraised live, in front of an audience. At the top of each hour, Ken Farmer of PBS’s Antiques Roadshow will highlight selected pieces and discuss the history and valuation of the objects. Ticket can be purchased in 30 minute time increments. This will save you from waiting in long lines and will enable you to spend the most quality time with our appraisal experts. Please do come prepared to wait in line and include accommodations for the object you plan to bring. The lines will be located under a tent and in the occasion of inclement weather, the tent will have sides attached. There will be food vendors on site.

      Dual Recovery Anonymous meets Thursdays at the Thomas Hale Education Center at Sunrise House.

      Dual Recovery Anonymous is for those seeking relief from an emotional or mental disorder & a co-occurring substance abuse problem.

      The group is peer run, meaning that it is run by people with a mental illness and substance abuse history.

      This excellent group supports people with both mental illness and substance abuse history. Please join us for fellowship in the 12-step tradition. There are no fees, registration forms or advanced notice necessary!
