The 2014 Ashland Chalk Walk will take place Saturday, May 3 in the Plaza in front of the Ashland Library. The event is the fifth annual Sidewalk “Chalk Art” event hosted by the Ashland Main Street Association with many Ashland businesses and individuals assisting through their generous sponsorships.   • Ashland Library hosts popular book sale

    The Friends of the Ashland Library will host its Spring Book Sale Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be held at the Richard S. Gillis, Jr., Ashland Branch Library, 201 S. Railroad Avenue in Ashland. More than 1,000 donated books will be available for purchase. Hardbacks sell for $1 and paperbacks for 50 cents. Children’s books are 25 cents each or five for $1.

  • Rabies clinics slated

    All dogs and cats (including so-called ‘barn cats’) are required by law to be vaccinated for rabies at four months of age. You also must have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination. Hanover Animal Control makes it easy for people to get their pets vaccinated by holding rabies vaccination clinics throughout the fall and winter. Vaccines will be administered at a cost of $7 per dog or cat.
