Friday, Aug. 29, Joseph Lawson, 25, of the 5000 block of Meadowlark Court in Richmond, was arrested for two counts of felony child endangerment following an investigation by the Ashland Police Department.

The investigation, initiated through information provided by the public and conducted with the assistance of Hanover County Child Protective Services and The Child Advocacy Center in Richmond, alleges that Lawson assaulted a 3-year-old child over a several-month period beginning in April, 2014.

Court records show Lawson had previously faced charges in Hanover County of trespassing, public swearing and intoxication, misdemeanor assault, possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon.

Lawson is currently being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail under a $7,500 secured bond, according to jail records. He was scheduled to appear today in Hanover’s juvenile and domestic relations court.
