The question as to whether Hanover will receive a third Walmart store location remains unanswered.
However, the county will receive another grocery store.
July 23 the board unanimously approved an amendment to the existing rezoning to allow a 1,839 square-foot grocery store with a drive-thru pharmacy and a 12-pump gas station off Sliding Hill Road near King’s Charter. Just what kind of grocery store it will be has not been disclosed yet.
“I am bound by a nondisclosure agreement that prohibits me from naming [the tenet],” said H. McNeish, the developer and landowner, who works with MG Development.
During last Wednesday’s public hearing, roughly 13 residents spoke up and voiced opposition to the proposal. The primary reason citizens were against the grocery store was because they said it could exacerbate traffic problems in the intersection of Sliding Hill Road and Kings Charter Drive.
