Preserve Beaver Dam Deopt! A living history with a mounted and dismounted raid on Saturday! On Sunday, the Federal Raiders from Custer’s Cavalry will demonstrate a railroad destruction tactic by the making of a “Shermans Bow Tie” with an actual era rail. Upon completion, the rail will be handed over to the Depot museum for display. This action was commonly used to destroy southern rail road lines, Beaver Dam Depot, to prevent further use of the trains. This has not been performed in over 150 years in Virginia, since the war! The Doswell Ruritan Club will be hosting a picnic for all veterans in the area on July 18, at the Doswell Community Center at 7p.m. We would invite you to attend in order that we may honor you for your service to our country and to thank you for your service. A meal of fried chicken, potato salad, sliced tomatoes, baked beans, and desserts will be served. Each veteran will receive a special pin to wear on their lapel in honor of their military commitment.
