Can’t get to DMV? On June 6, DMV is coming to Hanover County!
DMV’s Mobile Service, “DMV 2 Go”, will be at the County government complex at Hanover Courthouse from 8:30 A.M. to 4 p.m. on June 6. DMV 2 Go is a full-service DMV office on wheels. The mobile office is handicapped-accessible and provides all DMV transactions, including applying for and renewing driver’s licenses and ID cards and applying for Virginia’s veterans ID card. The County government complex is located at 7497 County Complex Road, Hanover, 23069.
Tough Mudder Virginia will be having a 10-12 mile obstacle course race designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, staminia, teamwork and mental grit. Looking to get a few extra steps on your fitness tracker, while spending time with your canine companion? Fluffy and Me Pack Walk and Basic Obedience offers both of these, along with coaching from a dog trainer as well. Designed to help pet owners understand their dog and form a closer bond through weekly structured pack walks through the scenic trails at Pole Green Park. Watch your dog’s leash manners improve with each walk! Class starts with a 45 minute pack walk on the nature trail and ends with 30 minutes of training/relaxation under the direction of Amanda McKenna of Alpha Love Dog Training. Upcoming session meets Saturdays, June 3 through June 17 at Pole Green Park, 6 to 7:15p.m. Cost is $55.

Registration is underway for the 29 session of the Citizens Police Academy, which will take place from September 12 through November 14. The academy will be held at the Sheriff’s Office every Tuesday between the hours of 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., and is free of charge. The deadline to apply is July 15. The program is available to Hanover residents, business owners, or employees who are at least 18 years of age. Applicants must be willing to submit to a background check. Class size is limited and applicants will be selected on a first-come, first accepted basis. The academy is designed to give participants an inside look into the law enforcement operations of the Sheriff’s Office in an effort to develop positive and productive relationships with the citizens in our community. To date, more than 600 citizens have graduated from the academy since it was first offered in 1995.
