Celebrating its sixth year of sold-out concerts in North Carolina, The Jennifer Licko Band’s ‘A Celtic Christmas’ returns in December 2016 with a new Christmas album release!

The music of the holiday season has strong roots in Celtic traditions; “We have learned that there are some songs that resonate with our audiences because of familiarity.” says Jennifer, “This is important to us because while we love introducing more eclectic pieces on other tours, Christmas is the time of year where traditions and familiar sounds are an important aspect”. All of the traditional carols will be sung in English (We Three Kings, The First Noel), audiences will also hear songs in Scots Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and French. An evening of Celtic Christmas traditions, songs and some blazing yuletide tunes on the fiddle; will be a highlight of your Christmas season.

This year the band will be launching their first Celtic Christmas CD, ‘The Lights of Christmas’, which includes the most popular songs from the Celtic Christmas Concert. The album includes musicians from Jennifer’s band such as fiddle player Patrick Mangan from RIVERDANCE; the original Irish music & dance hit production, Patsy O’Brien and Bob Noble.

This isn’t your typical warm and fuzzy Christmas special – it’s even a bit racy at times – but these 22 characters from teeny, tiny Tuna will bring glad tidings and great joy to your holiday season.

Operation Silent Night @ Richmond Animal League

Sending Every Animal Home for the Holidays For the sixth year in a row, RAL is hosting Operation Silent Night with the goal of finding homes for 200 puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats this holiday season. All animals not adopted during this time will go to loving fosters homes for the holidays. During the event, fees for all pets will be reduced to $10! Join us for 15 fun packed days of adoptions, kitten cuddles, puppy kisses, and a special Polar Express theme! We’ll have a special Luminary Ceremony on December 23rd. The Luminary Ceremony is a wonderful time to honor all the special pets and people who have touched your life. Operation Silent Night hours are as follows: Monday through Friday, noon to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday noon to 6pm. Pine Camp Holiday Open House @ Pine Camp Arts and Community Center

Christmas-sceneArt Exhibit and holiday entertainment for the entire family

This celebration will include seasonal musical entertainment by performer Donald Coles and the mellow mature sounds of medal-winning Quartet, Youth Reclamation Project. A reading of the classic tale “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clarke Moore, chances to win door prizes, an opportunity to create and sign holiday cards for veterans, and children’s art activities. The event will also be the first night of the 12 foot holiday tree being lit.
“Wee Holiday Village,” a three-dimensional showing of miniature houses and dioramas with holiday themes will also open on December 9. This exhibit will be on display through Friday, December 30. The Spotlight Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
