RVA MakerFest returns to the Science Museum of Virginia for hands-on demonstrations from over 100 of the region’s most innovative makers, from glassblowers and blacksmiths to video game programmers and robotics. Free admission. Food and beer trucks on site. Also, enjoy free access to the Science Museum of Virginia, including the new SPEED exhibit.
Pickle Ball is now being offered at Ashland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Hunter Hall Gym, 301 S. James Street, Ashland. Thursday, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. You do not need to know how to play Pickle Ball; it’s easy to learn. Come on out and have fun while exercising! Equipment is provided. No cost!

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH EXHIBIT “ARTE”

The exhibit will open on Friday, September 16 with a public reception from 6:00 to 8 :00p.m. through to Friday, October 21. Preservation Virginia’s museums are participating in Smithsonian Museum Day Live! In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live ticket for free!
