RVA MakerFest @ The Science Museum of Virginia

RVA MakerFest returns to the Science Museum of Virginia for hands-on demonstrations from over 100 of the region’s most innovative makers, from glassblowers and blacksmiths to video game programmers and robotics. Free admission. Food and beer trucks on site. Also, enjoy free access to the Science Museum of Virginia, including the new SPEED exhibit.

Preservation Virginia’s museums are participating in Smithsonian Museum Day Live! In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live ticket for free! The Museum Day Live! ticket provides free admission for two people. Tickets will be available for download on August 1, 2016. Pathways to Awakening Opening Reception @ Gallery Flux

for-calendarsGallery Flux invites you to attend the Opening Reception for our new three artist show, Pathways to Awakening, featuring mixed media and oil paintings, collaborative works, cut stainless steel and wood installations, and found object sculptures. On exhibit will be new works by Heidi Lewis Coleman, Stephanie Joyce, and Susan Newbold. At the reception, all three artists will be speaking about the specific body of work and process. The exhibition will run from October 6 – November 26, 2016.

Yoga and Meditation for Creativity Workshop and Gong Relaxation @ Gallery Flux

We will deepen our awareness and reach new heights through meditation alongside her paintings and two other artists works: Susan Newbold and Heidi Lewis Coleman. The experience will be integrated with a healing gong bath at the end of the session. All ages and levels of experience are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat or towel to the session.
