The GFWC Ashcake Woman’s Club is hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser Saturday, April 15, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Ashland Applebee’s at 101 S. Carter Road. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and a beverage. The Easter bunny will also be on hand for the kids. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 10 and under. Tickets will be available at the door. Come join the fun!
Proceeds from the fund raiser will benefit the Ashcake Woman’s Club which provides support to a host of local charities such as Circles Ashland, Wings of Hope Ranch, and Hanover Interfaith Free Clinics just to name a few.
The Clay Springs Ruritan Club will sponsor its annual community wide Easter Egg Hunt at Slash Christian Church, 11353 Mount Hermon Road, Ashland, Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m. (weather permitting). Children 1 through 12 years of age are welcome to come and join in the fun. Prizes will be awarded.
All-you-can-eat Salt Fish Breakfast to include scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, spiced apples, biscuits, cornbread, coffee, and juice. Take-out plates will be available for purchase. Book Signing: Local author Jayne Conrad Harding will greet visitors and sign copies of her new novel, Out of the Mist: An Outer Banks Mystery, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Books, Beads and More, 8324 Bell Creek Road, in Mechanicsville Out of the Mist is a mystery story and a ghost story. A young girl and her widowed mother rent a house in the North Carolina Outer Banks, but either the house is haunter, or someone wants them to leave almost as soon as they move in. Out of the Mist is Harding’s first fictinal work. She lives in Mechanicsville, and teaches at VCU, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and Southern New Hampshire University.
