February 18
All-you-can-eat Salt Fish Breakfast to include scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, spiced apples, biscuits, cornbread, coffee, and juice. Take-out plates will be available. The Doswell Ruritan Club is located at 16433 N. Washington Hwy. Saturday. Feb. 18, from 6 to 9 a.m. $9 for adults; $4 for children ages 4-10.

February 20
Hanover County Model Congress (HCMC) will be held on Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Atlee High School.  HCMC is a student-run Model Congress designed to give local middle school and high school students a hands-on opportunity to learn about government processes and to practice public speaking skills. The Ashland Beekeepers Association meets first Thursdays at 7 p.m. at The Family Life Baptist Church, 206 S. Washington Hwy in Ashland.  Anyone interested in honeybees and beekeeping is welcome to attend.  For more information, email to mail@ashlandvabeekeepers.org .

Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 11515 Ashcake Road is hosting a blood drive Sunday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are also welcome. Hanover Airpark Business Association 5k Walk/Run will be held Saturday, March 18, at noon at the Center of the Universe Brewing Company (COTU), 11293 Air park Road, Ashland. Live music and food trucks will be waiting at the finish line.

The Hanover Book Festival is back! To be held on April 22, at the Richmond Times-Dispatch Community Room, 8460 Times Dispatch Blvd., Mechanicsville. Authors! If you haven’t registered yet, do it soon; there are only 11 tables left! Go to www.hanoverbookfestival.com for information and registration form.
For anyone interested in writing, workshops will be offered. Info on the workshops and registration forms can be found on the website. This is a free event for readers to meet authors and discuss and purchase books.
