Our team of community correspondents covers local news in the Ashland, Montpelier, Beaverdam, Doswell, Rockville and Mechanicsville communities.
Shelia Talley covers the Mechanicsville community for our weekly Neighborhood Network. Talley is a wife, mother, grandmother and retired school secretary, who occasionally substitutes in the classroom. She has always loved to write and has published two books, “Eyes Like My Own,” and “Beloved Place.”
Donna-Jo Webster writes our weekly column covering local Rockville news. Although born and raised in Richmond, Webster has called the Rockville area of Hanover County home for the past two decades. She holds a B.S. in mass communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and earned her Master’s in Library and Information Sciences from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D. C. She’s been a member of Beta Phi Mu, the international honor society for library and information science and information technology, since 2012.
When she’s not writing for the Herald-Progress or zipping across our winding roads in her beloved rag top Mustang, Webster serves as branch manager of the Cochrane Rockville Branch of the Pamunkey Regional Library. For fun, she cooks, reads, cross stitches, collects old spice tins and silent movie glass slides, cheers on the Buffalo Bills football franchise and tells slightly exaggerated tales of mirth. Her family includes her husband, affectionately known as Spider, her son, who answers to Snack, three cats, a turtle and one spoiled rotten dog.
Debbie Murphy covers the communities of Beaverdam, Doswell and Montpelier in her weekly contribution to the Herald-Progress’ Neighborhood Network.
Meriwether Gilmore covers the Town of Ashland, also known as “The Center of the Universe,” in each week’s installment of the Neighborhood Network.
