Charles “Charlie” Allen Cole, 65, of , passed away on August 3, 2017. He was the son of the late Elmo and Nina Cole and was preceded in death by his brother, Jake and sister, Ann. He was retired from Bear Island with over 35 years of service. Charlie was an avid hunter, traveling across the United States and into Argentina to hunt. He is survived by his wife, Terry Cole; daughters, Kelly Cole (Adrian Beard), Kerri Hearn (Travis), Kasey Hall (Jamie); son, Lucas Cole; granddaughter, Gracie Hall; beloved dog, Lucy, as well as other family members and dear friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 2-5 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory – Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. Shane Eric Joyce, died August 2, 2017 in his Glen Allen home. Shane was born to Juanita and Ralph Joyce in the fall of 1964. He grew up in Ashland to be a young man with a kind heart. Shane always had time to rescue a weary animal or lend a helping hand to people in need. Throughout his life, Shane enjoyed playful mischief. He held to the maxim, question everything and was always determined to find out the truth for himself. Shane’s hearty laugh, soft smile and strong hands will be missed by those who survive him including his mother, Juanita Joyce, former wife, Celeste Joyce, their three children, Eric, Matthew and Haley Joyce, one grandchild, Huxley Joyce and other close family Julia, Jessica and Cecilia. May we all carry his willingness to help a stranger with us each day. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 6, 2017 6-8pm at Bliley’s Staples Mill 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 11am. David Alton Winfrey, 74, of Beaverdam, passed away on August 6,2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Winfrey and daughter, Karen Winfrey; his love, Dorothy Edgar; his parents, and a brother. David was a graduate of Elon College and University of Virginia. Mr. Winfrey was a teacher and principal in Hanover County as well as Page County. He enjoyed woodworking and creating antique duplicates. David is survived by four sisters and their spouses, his nieces and nephews, and many friends.
