A shooting Monday night in Ashland injured two outside of an apartment complex.

Ashland Police Department responded to a call of shots fired just at Misty Pines Apartment Complex off Arlington Street, just after 10 p.m.

According to police reports, the suspect shot several rounds at individuals in front of this apartment and then fled the area in a “late model, silver sedan”.

The two victims were struck and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Thankfully both are in stable condition,” said Ashland Police Chief Douglas Goodman Jr. in a statement. “We ask continued prayers for these victims and their families.”

Goodman said that Ashland Police worked in connection with the Hanover’s Sheriff’s Office, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police on this case and the investigation is still ongoing.

Police noted that early indications are the victims and suspects knew one another but considers this an isolated incident.

On Tuesday Jan 30. Kenen Stevens, 20 years old of Hanover County, was arrested by investigators for the shooting and charged with two counts of Aggravated Malicious Wounding and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Stevens was transported to the Pamunkey Regional Jail without incident and held with no bond.
