Robert Andrew Billings, Sr., passed away Nov. 14, 2012 at his home in Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen Billings. He is survived by his son Robert Billings, Jr., daughter-in-law Rebecca Billings, three grandchildren Michael, Julia, Andrew and three brothers, John, Jim, and Michael Billings. Wilbur R. Bryant (Mr. B), 83, of Montpelier passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Ilor Edwards Bryant. He is survived by six children; Cheryl West, Michael Bryant (Mary), Faye Smith, Marc Bryant (Bonnie), Karen Guldenschuh (Jon), and Keenan Bryant; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law and their families; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with funeral services was held Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment Bethany Christian Church Cemetery, Bumpass, Va. Fulmer R. Carver, of Mechanicsville, passed away Feb. 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia C. Dunnavant. He is survived by three grandchildren, Robin Updike (Kenny), Steve Dunnavant (Kelli) and Daniel Dunnavant (Deanna); sister, Marion Chalkley; seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
Lorraine H. Davis, 89, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ellsworth. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Violet D. Durrette and Gloria D. Spain (Richard III); grandsons, Gregory F. Durrette and Richard T. Spain IV; and her sister, Elizabeth Fisher. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Lorraine was an active, life long member of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Virginia Conference UMC. The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, and where services will be held Friday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. Emily Gladys Hull, 93, a longtime resident of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away Feb. 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Hull. She is survived by a sister, Helen K. Melton; niece, Bonnie Call; also six great-nieces and nephews. Family received friends Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 7, at Oakwood Cemetery.
Agnes Louise Mills, 79, of Ashland, the widow of Robert J. Mills, Jr., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. She is survived by three sons; Ronald L. Mills (Rhonda), James W. Mills (Leanne), Donald R. Mills (Deborah, a devoted daughter-in-law), one daughter, Brenda Louise Inge (Lin), seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, Elsie, Elouise and Charlotte, and one brother, Ernest. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland, where the family received friends. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery.
Aubrey Ryals Mitchell, Jr., 87, of Richmond, widower of Ella Dungan “Deanie” Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. He is survived by three children, William R. Mitchell, Robert D. Mitchell and his wife, Susan, Elizabeth M. Higgs and her husband, Francis; seven grandchildren, Chris and Devon Mitchell, Katy Westbrook, Hannah and Elise Mitchell, Carson and Morgan Higgs; and his brother, John D. Mitchell and his wife, Jo. Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Northside Lodge #292 A.F. & A.M. and Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies. He was active with Habitat for Humanity and participated in other service construction projects, both locally and abroad. The family received friends Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
Forrest Jay Mitchell, III, 89, of New Kent, Va., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Booth Mitchell. He is survived by his children, Forrest Jay Mitchell IV and wife, Jill F. Mitchell, Linda Conley and husband, Tom Conley, and Catherine Mitchell. The family received friends Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home. Burial was private.
Minnie Gee Saunders, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Thomas “Tommy” Saunders; daughter, Rebecca S. Tignor and her husband, Rex; grandson, Brett Allen Tignor; granddaughter, Amanda Tignor Coons and her husband, Bret; one niece and three nephews. She was a longtime member of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church. The family received friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 followed by funeral services. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, in Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge, Va.
